Mihela is a 30-year-old young woman, born and raised in Trieste where she attended the International School until middle school, then 3 years of high school. At the age of 17, she moved to England with her family. 'After finishing high school I moved to the University of Sussex in Brighton, a beautiful city where I studied "International Relations and Development Studies". I was happy to live again by the sea, but the best part of this experience was the indissoluble friendships born and developed during those years with a very international group of friends that became almost a second family to me. In 2012 they offered me an internship at the United Nations in Geneva, where I worked in the program for the fight to HIV. I lived in Geneva for six months and fell in love with the city and its international community, but above all with the beautiful nature that surrounds it. Having been so lucky to grow up in Trieste, which is surrounded by sea and mountains, Geneva offered me something similar, with its lake, the Alps and the Jura mountains.'After the internship Mihela returned to London, where she started to work in publishing, but after a while she decided to continue her studies. 'I decided to go to Maastricht, a beautiful town in the Netherlands, to do a Master's in Global Health/International Public Health. The most beautiful part of this program was certainly the opportunity to go to India, to the University of Manipal, to study the Indian health system. In November 2017, however, after delivering my thesis, I returned to Geneva, where I was offered a job at the World Heart Federation, a NGO that deals with cardiovascular disease globally. Today I manage the Communications Department, this is a very varied work: I manage the site, work on social media, write newsletters and press releases, organize events and help create informative material.” Even though she lives in Switzerland, Mihela returns to Trieste more and more often. "I started to appreciate Trieste a lot more after moving away from my city. The quality of life is very high and few cities are surrounded by a beautiful nature as Trieste. I have a small group of very close high school friends, but I used to go home 4 or 5 times a year. Now I'm going home once a month to see my boyfriend."
